Fruit and vegetables are some of the most valuable resources on our planet as they provide a good source of vitamins, minerals, nutrients and other health benefits. So why is so much being wasted if they’re so good for us?
13% Of all fruit and vegetables grown in the UK per year are wasted. This equates to roughly 30,000 tonnes worth of produce going to waste, enough to feed around 20,000 people their 5-a-day for a year.
Retailers are able to reject produce from farmers, due to them not meeting certain requirements like shape, colour and size which is why they are being wasted. Farmers then feel forced to overproduce in order to provide enough high quality produce that will be accepted. Any produce that is rejected is then sent to a landfill as waste.
Our aim is to help reduce the unnecessary volumes of fruit and vegetables going to waste, by repurposing them to create a natural sparkling juice drink, which is manufactured through a sustainable production cycle.
